I am... broken.
I don't know who I am anymore. Because I'm not Atem. The man known as Atem is gone, and he's not coming back. That part of me shattered with the puzzle. That part of me cannot be rebuilt. That part of me is dead. All that remains of that person are his memories. His fractured, fragmented memories and look how much good they've done me! I'm just the same as I was before. Just as unsure. Just as unbalanced.
Broken.
A puzzle with one piece misplaced, a window with cracks running through the corners, a child's toy held together with glue
That's all that I am and all that I will ever be.
Yami stared at the gaggle of kids before him. Kaiba told him he'd be facing a rather odd opponent, but this wasn't exactly what he'd been expecting.
"Which of you wanted to duel me?" Yami asked the children. They ignored him. In fact, it was as if they hadn't heard him at all. Odd.
One of the children stepped forward, his eyes covered by a folded bandana. Another one produced a baseball bat and gave it to the blindfolded one. Yami took a step backward, posing himself to run if he found himself under attack. Whatever kind of duel these kids were planning, he wanted no part in it.
The kid with the baseball bat had taken a single step forward
Yami's hand twitched as he reached out to draw a card from the deck in front of him. The card he drew next would severely impact his chances of winning. This card was crucial. Both the game and his pride depended on it.
Yami's eyes slid shut as he allowed his fingers to caress the worn-down edge of the card at the very top of the deck, gently sliding it from its place and bringing it close to his chest in a broad, sweeping motion. Opening his eyes just a crack, he took in the text and images printed on the card's front.
Yami inwardly cursed. This card would not help him. He added it to his hand, trying not let his disappointment show.

No Game is Worth Dying For
I know more of your recent past than you think I do, other self. I know of your games of life and death. But you're different now. You've changed.
So when this Pandora man stands in front of us and challenges us to the ultimate game, a duel to the death, how does it make you feel? Does it disturb you the way it disturbs me?
I can see that it does. Your heart cringes and shies away from the thought.
But you're not going to save him.
Does it sicken you the way it sickens me?
It would seem that it does. Your stomach churns in repulsion.
But you're not going to save him.
His life points will click down to zero, and the saw blades will begi

Yuugi gazed up at his other half as they walked home from school together. It had been a long, not-so-great day, and Yami had handled it all so well...
"Oh, Yami..." Yuugi muttered. "I..."
Yami looked down at his light questioningly. "What is it, hikari? Is something wrong?"
Yuugi looked at the ground. "It's just... you're so big and strong and confident," he began. "And I'm so small and weak and dependent..."
Yami continued to gaze down at Yuugi.
"I..." Yuugi choked, holding back his tears. "I wish I could be more like you."
Yami smiled softly. "You know, aibou, I have weaknesses too," he reassured his light.
This was news to Yuugi. H
